Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
This movie is special and I like it a lot. Although it seems from the premise that the film would be about resisting alien invaders or battling supersized monsters, it’s actually a moving relationship drama about two damaged strangers and their journey home set against the backdrop of a changing Central American landscape ravaged by years of war. The film is surprisingly touching and the script masterfully transitions from loud action-packed sequences to quiet, reflective scenes with grace and ease. The two leads do a fantastic job, allowing atmosphere and emotion to supplement the sparse dialogue. It’s a beautiful movie.

Final Grade: A
