What’s It About?
An overeager Texas police officer tries to protect the feisty widow of a cartel informant from assassins, rivals, and dirty cops.
Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
I thought this movie would be much funnier than it actually is. The premise and the cast are great, but the script is awful. So many jokes in this film fall flat or never land at all. I feel like the filmmakers researched familiar set-ups, jokes, and gags that worked in previous movies, copied and pasted them into this script, hired two great actors to read it, and expected to create comedy gold. What they got, instead, is a disappointing mess: a sad trudge through ninety minutes of cliches, stereotypes and recycled table scraps. Witherspoon and Vergara deserve better.
Final Grade: D+
