Blue Steel 1990

US Title:
Blue Steel
Kathryn Bigelow

What’s It About?
A rookie detective suspects that the man she is dating may actually be a killer.

Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
I think Jamie Lee Curtis does a really good job here, playing the complicated and idealistic lead character as she is put through an emotional and physical roller coaster. Also, Ron Silver is creepy, super creepy, as the psychotic stalker who keeps one-upping her. Although the performances are great, and the ending is good, the script is choppy and the plot feels slightly artificial or contrived. It’s still a fine movie, but I think it could have been even better. The message of this film is important, but I think some of it gets lost in the packaging.

Final Grade: C
