What’s It About?
Boyhood follows the life of Mason as he grows up from the age of six to the age of eighteen. The movie was filmed over the course of eleven years and the actors age in real time like their characters.
Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
The concept of this film is pretty impressive: filming the same actors for over a decade and telling one very long story of a boy’s growth from childhood to adulthood. However, just because the idea is amazing, doesn’t necessarily mean that the film itself is amazing. It’s actually just ok. The overall storyline is relatively boring. Even though we follow these characters for eleven years, very little seems to actually happen. Maybe the movie is a little too close to ordinary, mundane life.
