The Boss 2016

US Title:
The Boss
Ben Falcone

What’s It About?
A business guru is sent to prison for insider trading and loses her fortune. After she is released, with no assets and no friends, she climbs her way back to the top by ruthlessly (and hilariously) transforming a children’s brownie selling venture into a national enterprise.

Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
It’s pretty funny, in fact some parts are laugh-out-loud hysterical. The setup is great, and the juxtaposition of Melissa McCarthy’s take-no-prisoner’s tyrannical businesswoman with the puppy-faced, innocent girl scouts (er, “Dandelions”) works really well. Both Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell are funny in this movie playing off each other with good comedic chemistry; and even though some of the gags do fall flat, there is a lot of charm here. On the downside, I thought the film’s resolution was rushed and the movie seemed to end a little abruptly for me.
