What’s It About?
A family tries to survive a series of massive earthquakes in California.
Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
This is a pretty good disaster movie. I like it. It’s a great combination of the classic earthquake / disaster film (but fully modernized, of course) and a slightly sappy family drama – but only slightly sappy, honest. It works really well. Solid performances from leads Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino, who gets one of the best “Mama Bear” quotes in the history of film; but the real heart of the movie is the journey of their daughter played by Alexandra Daddario and the good-hearted brothers (Hugo Johnstone-Burt and Art Parkinson) who help her along the way… or, more precisely, she helps them.
