Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
I did not expect a film made in the 70’s about a group of boarding school teens from 1900 Australia to be anywhere near as moving or as powerful as it was. What a total surprise. This movie is haunting and unique, and it stuck with me long after it was over. It’s well acted and very well written. The story focuses more on the impact that the disappearances have on the survivors and the community instead of actually solving the mystery itself. That’s ok in this specific case. Ambiguity usually drives me crazy, but it is incredibly effective here.
