What’s It About?
A stuffy yuppie’s world is turned upside down after he agrees to drive his recently-widowed grandfather to Daytona Beach for spring break.
Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
Three minutes in, Zac Efron’s character finds Robert De Niro’s character masturbating. The sight of his grandson doesn’t stop the old man from finishing and it’s at this point you know it’s going to be “that” kind of movie. It’s littered with lazy dick, sex, and weed jokes; goes all-in on homophobic and racial stereotypes; and pigeonholes its female characters into three types (doormat, raging bitch or raging slut). Grandpa may have looked great on paper, but what materialized was a big disappointment. I only watched the unrated version; I don’t know if that made it better or worse.
