Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
Season one of Insecure is great television. It has a distinctly original voice that is refreshing and insightful. The show is an exploration of modern life through the lens of young, middleclass African-Americans. It is smart, funny, moving and thought-provoking. It’s also addicting. I watched the first episode on a whim, then binged the entire rest of the season in one day. It’s really good. Issa Rae (also one of the show’s creators) does a great job playing the lead character, and several members of the supporting ensemble also shine, particularly Yvonne Orji and Jay Ellis.
