What’s It About?
A group of twentysomethings reunite after their friend Alex attempts to commit suicide.
Short Review: 100 Words or Less (no spoilers)
It’s undeniable that this film borrows a significant part of its premise from The Big Chill: a group of former college friends reunite for a weekend after one of their own attempts suicide. However, unlike its classic predecessor, Alex’s suicide attempt is not successful. The characters spend the movie carefully navigating how to handle their old friend, while also dealing with their own personal and inter-personal conflicts. I wish I could say this movie was better, but it was just plain ok. The acting was fine, no complaints there; but the script was flat, stereotypical and played it too safe.
